Caroline County Announces COVID- 19 Related Death

Today, Health Officer Scott LeRoy received notification of the death of a local resident who tested positive for COVID-19. The patient was a 68-year-old female who acquired COVID-19 through an unknown source. The patient had multiple preexisting medical condition and died at the hospital on May 29th.

“On behalf of the citizens of Caroline County, we express our deepest sympathy for the family and loved ones of the patient who died, as well as the families of everyone who has been affected by this outbreak,” said County Commission President Larry Porter “The health of our residents and the community is our top priority, and we will continue working together to care for the patients and protect the safety of health care workers and the people in our community.”

The Caroline County Health Department and the County’s Emergency Operation Center has been working very closely to identify people who have been in potential contact with the patient. They are interviewing affected people and giving instructions on how to protect themselves and others.

“This tragic loss to our community is a reminder that even though we are slowly starting to return to normal, COVID-19 remains a serious threat to the health of our community,” state Anna Sierra, Director of Emergency Services. “Everyone must continue to protect themselves, their family, friends and colleagues by following the preventive measures and social distancing guidelines.”
