Rock Hall Honors Hometown Heroes

Photo: Unveiling Joesph Lill's Hometown Hero BannerRock Hall, MD – Rock Hall is a town that loves their Heritage and their Hometown Heroes. On June 29, 2019 through a program organized and funded by the Sgt Preston Ashley American Legion Post 228 and co-sponsored by the Town of Rock Hall the newest set of Hometown Heroes were unveiled and hung on Main Street. These replaced banners that had been on display on Main Street and will be given to the families of honorees.

10 men and one woman, who is currently in active duty, were honored on this series of banners.

Jack Jester – US Air Force, 1952-1974
George Glenn – US Navy, 1945-1946
David Sorflaten – US Navy, 1952-1956
Tom Miller – US Army, 1953-1955
MaKenzie Lyn Williams – US Navy, Active Duty
Robert Puppe – US Army, 1957-1959
John Walter Scoon, JR – US Coast Guard, 1942-1945
Joseph W. Strong and Robert H. Strong SR – US Navy, 1942-1945
Joseph Lill – US Navy, 1953-1971
William Ashley SR – US Army, 1951- 1953

Over 100 friends, family and community members were at the Rock Hall American Legion as the banners were unveiled. After the short ceremony the banners were installed on Main Street.
