Personal Injury Accident in Crumpton

Crumpton, MD – On February 25, 2019 at approximately 2:49 PM, the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack received a call for a three vehicle collision on Maryland Route 544 at Fourth St in Crumpton.

In a Press Release the Maryland State Police says that after the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Kia driven by Brandi Land of Chestertown and a 2007 Ford F-150 truck driven by Brian Lester of Millington were traveling eastbound on Maryland Route 544. The Kia came to a stop at the intersection of 544 and Fourth Street to make a left turn on to Fourth St. The Ford continued traveling eastbound and for unknown reasons struck the Kia in the rear.

The Kia slid forward and to the left coming to a stop in the westbound lanes. The Ford came to a stop in the intersection blocking the eastbound lane. A 2003 Dodge Neon driven by William Gillin of Millington was traveling westbound on Maryland Route 544 as the Dodge entered the intersection, it struck the Kia on the passenger side. The Kia was pushed back and came to a stop remaining in the intersection. The Dodge continued off the roadway and in to a drainage ditch.

Mr. Lester was injured and transported by ambulance to Chester River Hospital by ambulance. Ms. Lane and Mr. Gilling were injured and transported by MSP helicopter to University of Maryland – Shock Trauma Center.

A Post-Crash investigation is continuing by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. The roadway was closed in all directions for approximately 3 hours for the investigation and clean up.
