Rhee Elected to Northeastern Maryland University Research Park Board of Directors

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Jimmy Rhee, Special Secretary of the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs, has been elected to the board of directors for the Northeastern Maryland University Research Park (NEMD URP). He will serve a three-year term.

“NEMD URP’s mission is to provide a multidisciplinary environment that strengthens national defense priorities through a variety of channels such as small business innovation research seminars and higher education opportunities,” said NEMD URP president Danny DeMarinis, “Special Secretary Rhee’s insights on the small business community and his experience at the international level make him a great addition to our leadership team.”

Special Secretary Rhee was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan in 2015 and is responsible for procurement policies, compliance, and outreach to Maryland’s small, minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses across 70 state agencies and departments. He presided over international trade and investment activities from 2010 to 2014 for the Commonwealth of Virginia. From 2003 to 2009, Rhee served as the COO/CEO of Global Technology Systems Consortium, Inc. His career includes 20 years of entrepreneurial experience in enterprise creation, growth, and change management.

“I am excited to join this dynamic group and look forward to helping increase access to government contracting opportunities and enhancing economic growth in Harford and Cecil counties,” Rhee stated.
