The Mainstay’s Sunday Afternoon Classical Series Welcomes Emma Taggart, pianist
Emma Taggart has been performing publicly since her first solo recital at age six.
She has been featured multiple times on national public radio and news and is a three-time alum of NPR’s From The Top.
Emma appeared eleven times with the Minnesota Orchestra during their 2018-2019 season, performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Saint Saens’ Carnival of the Animals. She has received first prizes in the YPSCA Minnesota Orchestra Concerto Competition, the Mannes School of Music Concerto Competition, the Maria Herrero International Piano Competition, the Schubert Club Regional Scholarship Competition, and the United States International Duo Piano Competition. She was a laureate in the 2024 North American Piano Arts Competition, the 2022 New York International Piano Competition, and the 2022 Palm Springs International Piano Competition. An avid performer, she has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Russia’s Marble Palace, and Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall. She has also performed in festivals in Italy, Spain, and Azerbaijan.
Emma’s program begins with Bach’s Partita No. 5, and the second half ends with Liszt’s Waltz Fantasy on Themes from Gounod’s Faust. In between will be pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, and Mazzoli.
This concert will introduce a new feature of The Mainstay’s Classical Concert Series when concert organizer Muphen Whitney conducts a short interview with Taggart after intermission.
We are so grateful to the Hedgelawn Foundation who sponsors the Classical Series at The Mainstay in honor of Judy Kohl; their participation allows us to bring talented musicians and international performers such as Emma to Kent County.
