Eastern Shore Land Conservancy Celebrates Donation of 2,900 Acre Conservation Easement: Tudor Farms

Easement is the latest in concerted effort of conservation by property owners.
Cambridge, Maryland – Tudor Farms, a Dorchester County property with a history of dedication to conservation, recently became the latest property to be protected by conservation easement in collaboration with Eastern Shore Land Conservancy (ESLC). This is the third such easement to have been placed on Tudor Farms, following a recent land acquisition.

Tudor Farms has long been recognized by the environmental community for its conservation value, as it is one of the largest contiguous blocks of property under a single landownership on the Eastern Shore, while also boasting a perfect balance of agriculture, resource-based industry, and wildlife habitat. This is a key consideration of ESLC’s vision under the Delmarva Oasis Initiative to preserve 50% of the Delmarva Peninsula by 2030; thus far, about 34% of land on the Eastern Shore has been preserved.

Tudor Farms’ owners have historically showed dedication to the protection of these conservation values, with conservation easements being placed in 1991 and 2002 totaling around 2,600 acres of protection. Hartland Holdings, LLC, who purchased the property in 2020, continues this dedication through the protection of 255 acres of the agricultural and wetlands, which brings the total protection of the farm to close to 2,900 acres.
