Ocean City Police Arrest Two for Assault
Ocean City, MD – On August 19, 2021 at 6:51 p.m., members of the Ocean City Fire and Police Departments responded to the area of the 1400 Block of Philadelphia Avenue in reference to a subject who had been stabbed.
The OCPD’s preliminary investigation has revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between a group on mopeds and two occupants of a motor vehicle in the area of Baltimore Avenue and 7th Street. This verbal altercation continued north on Baltimore Avenue eventually ending on Philadelphia Avenue at 14th Street. During the course of this altercation, the female driver of the motor vehicle intentionally struck one of the mopeds causing it to crash.
The passenger of the vehicle exited the car and engaged in a physical altercation with the four moped operators. During this physical altercation, the passenger suspect produced a knife and stabbed one of the moped operators. The vehicle then fled from the area.
Ocean City Police Officers broadcasted a description of the vehicle shortly after the incident. The vehicle was located soon after by a Berlin Police Officer in the area of RT 50 and Friendship Road. At that time, the vehicle was stopped and both the driver and passenger of the vehicle were placed under arrest. The victim was flown by MSP Trooper 4 to Tidal Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
The following two arrests have been made in the case:
• Richard White, 35, Grasonville, MD: First-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
• Ashley Felton, 31, Chester, MD: First-degree assault, second-degree assault, and numerous traffic related offenses.
