Jennifer Gilmer, CKD, founded Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath in Chevy Chase, MD, in 1997. She has designed more than a thousand kitchens during her almost 40-year career. She is the author of “The Kitchen Bible,” a best-selling guide for homeowners undertaking kitchen renovations. In addition, her designs have won numerous awards, including the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s top Pinnacle of Design Award, and her work has been featured in numerous national publications including “The Washington Post,” “Better Homes & Gardens,” “This Old House,” “Home & Design,” “Washingtonian,” “Southern Living,” and on HGTV.

“We’ve noticed during the pandemic that many people have been forced to spend more time indoors where they realize their home is aging and in need of a new kitchen and/or bathroom. They have more time to spend thinking about this, looking on social media for inspiration, and more time to focus on finding a firm to help them. Since the new norm is to spend more time at home, people want to make sure that it’s a space that they love,” Gilmer states.

“Our scores of satisfied clients are a testament to the years of professional experience our designers have in bringing people’s visions to life. Our team of attentive designers combines all the right elements to create the kitchen or bath that reflects their personal style and meets their functional requirements. We are adept at designing projects within every budget range.”

“What sets us apart from other firms is our designers listen to the needs and wishes of clients in order to create the kitchen or bath of their dreams, not ours. We create detailed drawings, provide product specifications and job site binders that contain all of the details necessary to assure seamless installation”, adds Gilmer.

Gilmer’s team in Easton includes:

Olivia Suss, her niece, who grew up in Easton’s historic district and is a recent graduate of Stevenson University. Suss previously worked as a design assistant to Debbie Jackson of Come By Chance Interior Design in St. Michaels.

Nancy McCarren, AIA, LEED AP, has worked as a senior designer, project architect, and manager for prominent architecture firms in Washington and Maryland for nearly 30 years. She joined JGKB in September 2019 and is the first licensed architect on the staff. She has worked on many award-winning projects recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Washington Chapter of American Institute for Architects, and Montgomery Preservation. She has expertise in all aspects of planning, project development, and implementation, and enjoys working closely with clients and contractors.

Jennifer Gilmer’s new 700 square-foot satellite showroom at 1 East Dover Street in Easton will bring state-of-the-art design and products for kitchens and baths to clientele on the Eastern Shore, Annapolis, and the beaches in Maryland and Delaware. Semi-custom to luxury cabinetry lines featured in the showroom include Decor/Talora, Premier Custom Built, Quality Custom Cabinetry, and Stone Hill. Their expertise is executing the design, order and seamless installation of the cabinets. They can supply cabinets only or can put together a package deal to include all other selections including countertops, appliances, fixtures, tile and lighting.

Gilmer who recently relocated her residence to a farm in Talbot County, comments, “My husband grew up in this area and it’s also where the two of us met 38 years ago. After talking to architects and designers in the area, I realized that a cutting-edge kitchen and bath design firm was sorely needed here. It is truly special to be back on the Eastern Shore and I am thrilled to share my expertise and products with local residents.”

While the showroom is open for customers wearing masks and practicing social distancing, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen can also meet with clients individually or virtually, taking proper precautions as needed. They are running a special through the end of the year for complimentary in home visits and design assessments.

Store hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., by appointment on Mondays and closed on Sundays.
