Delaware Man Charged with Elkton Vehicle Fire
CECIL COUNTY, MD – Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a Delaware man after determining he was responsible for setting his former girlfriend’s parents’ vehicle on fire this spring.
On March 4, 2020, at approximately 9:30 p.m.Singerly Fire Company responded to the unit block of Robin Hood Drive after the victims discovered their 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe on fire. The vehicle was located in the driveway and firefighters were able to contain the fire prior to spreading to the home.
Deputy State Fire Marshals were requested to conduct an investigation and identified Garett Riley Dorsey, age 21 of Leipsic, Delaware as the suspect. Investigators estimate damages to the vehicle caused approximately $10,000.00 in damages.
The Maryland State Apprehension Team assisted the Office of the State Fire Marshal in locating Dorsey and, upon being contacted, agreed to turn himself to investigators this morning. Dorsey was charged with Arson 2nd Degree, Malicious Burning 1st Degree, Arson Threat, and Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,000.00
Dorsey was transported to Cecil County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.
