Talbot Community Connections Mounts Sign Campaign to Thank Talbot County and Provide for Unmet Citizen Needs

Talbot Community Connections is blanketing Talbot County with s yard sign campaign to thank the County during COVID-19 and raise funds for growing unmet citizen needs.
EASTON, MD – Talbot Community Connections (TCC), a nonprofit arm of Talbot County Department of Social Services (DSS), has the mission to raise and distribute funds to help keep families together, support children in foster care, and support the elderly so they can remain independent, safe, and healthy members of our communities. During COVID-19, the Talbot County DSS is receiving record requests for services for those citizens most affected by job loss due to the pandemic.

One of the board members of Talbot Community Connections personally posted a thank you sign at the corner of Glebe Road and the Bypass in Easton with a friend to thank county government, local nonprofits, the business community, and Talbot County citizens for the caring that is occurring during this crisis – from feeding operations to medical care and everything in between.

Working with Bob Porter at Sharper Graphics in Easton, the board of Talbot Community Connections decided to take the sign and create yard signs that can be purchased by Talbot County citizens to post in their own yards and at their businesses to blanket Talbot County with thanks.

Amy Steward, President of Talbot Community Connections, comments, “We were so disappointed this week to have to cancel this year’s annual Senior Summit due to the social distancing issues we are facing, but we still need to raise funds in support of Talbot County DSS. This seemed like the perfect fit and a way to engage the entire community in our efforts.”

The cost of the two-sided signs is $20 and they can be purchased online at talbotcommunityconnections.org. Signs will be available for pickup on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Easton Farmers Market in the parking lot of the Talbot County Business Center (formerly the Black & Decker plant) on Glebe Road. The drive-through pickup will enable people to keep social distancing when picking up their signs.

In place of this year’s Senior Summit, Talbot Community Connections is posting vendor information for seniors on its website talbotcommunityconnections.org in late May as an effort to honor the loyal vendors who have participated over the past four years in the Senior Summit.

For further information, visit talbotcommuityconnections.org or visit their page on Facebook. A sign purchase for $20 is partially deductible (50%) as a charitable contribution in the amount of $10. That is the amount of your purchase which exceeds the value of the sign.

Since its founding in 2001, TCC has assisted the Talbot County Children’s Advocacy Center, families in crisis, the unemployed, and disabled and frail elderly.
