City of Newark Earns Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
Newark, DE – The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Newark by Government Finance Officers of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 2018 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“The City is committed to managing its financial resources responsibly and transparently,” said Finance Director David Del Grande. “Obtaining national recognition from our peer group comprised of over 20,000 members reinforces the hard work and dedication of Deputy Director Hollander and our Accounting team. It is a tremendous honor for the City of Newark to receive this award.”
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
