Washington College to Induct Four into Athletic Hall of Fame

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome four new inductees during a reception and ceremony on Saturday, October 19th. A brief synopsis of each inductee follows.

Chris Brandt ’90 — Men’s Basketball
Chris Brandt averaged a team-leading 20.3 points per game and handed out a team-best 110 assists during the men’s basketball team’s run to a third-place national finish and a school-record 25 victories during the 1989-90 season. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 1990 NCAA Division III Final Four, scoring 34 points in the Shoremen’s win in the third-place game. He scored a total of 1,272 career points, good for 15th in school history. He played in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Tournament all four years and the NCAA Division III Tournament as a junior and senior.

Justin Daniel ’01 — Men’s Soccer
Justin Daniel ranks second in Washington College men’s soccer history in career points with 123, second in career goals with 50, and third in career assists with 23. He was twice named All-Region and garnered All-Centennial Conference honors three times, including first-team honors in 2000. His 16-goal, eight-assist season in 1998 made him just the second different Shoreman ever to record 40 or more total points in a season. He helped lead the Shoremen to an ECAC Tournament berth in 2000.

Anna Germain Scozzafava ’03 — Women’s Rowing
Anna Germain was the Washington College women’s rowing program’s first-ever All-America coxswain, earning second-team honors in 2002 and then first team honors in 2003. Her 2003 honor, alongside teammate Sara Beegle, made her one of the first two first-team All-Americans in her team’s history. With Germain as the coxswain of the team’s first varsity eight, the Shorewomen were ranked as high as second in all of Division III during her junior year and as high as seventh in Division III her senior year. She coxed the Shorewomen to their first-ever win over national power Ithaca.

Quincy Miles Samus ’00 — Field Hockey
Quincy Miles was an outstanding defender for the Washington College field hockey team during the squad’s best-ever four-year run. She was a three-time All-Centennial Conference first-team selection and a three-time Regional All-America second-team pick. She was also selected as a 1999 North-South Senior All-Star. Her 22 career defensive saves represented the school record when she graduated and still put her third all-time in school history. She helped lead the Shorewomen to their first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament berths in 1996 and 1997, to a share of the 1997 Centennial Conference Championship, and to a 1999 ECAC Tournament berth.
