Easton, Md. – UM Shore Regional Health’s Shore Kids Camp, an annual summer day camp that promotes the development of diabetes self-management skills through a positive environment, took place Monday, July 8, to Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Calhoun MEBA Engineering School on Rte. 33 in Easton. Eight children ages 7 to 12 took part in the camp, under the direction of Wynne Aroom, RN, and Joanne Faust, RN, as well as two junior campers who have attended in years’ past.

Children with diabetes frequently miss the fun and memories a summer camp experience can bring. According to Aroom, Shore Kids Camp aims to change this. “The children learned more about managing their diabetes, but they also had fun playing group games, swimming, making crafts, taking walks, hearing from speakers, going to the movies and bowling,” Aroom says.
