Plein Air Easton Coffee and Conversations, and other Demonstrations

Plein Air Easton is 15 years old and over those 15 years it has has grown in large part due to our collectors and artists spreading the word across the country.

Featured Alumni of the show and festival will be featured in a series of FREE
TED Talk style interviews called…. Coffee and Conversations

Beginning July 14, 2019 three Artists will paint in a specific location from 10-3pm and on the following day they will share a videotaped discussion of the prior day’s paintings in the Avalon Theatre at 10am. Rise Up Coffee Pop up Shop will be open to keep everyone fed and caffeinated.

The Schedule is as follows…

– Monday, July 15, 10am – Ray Hassard, Brenda Boylan, and Eleinne Basa will discuss with Q & A their work done in Oxford on the previous day.

– Tuesday, July 16, 10am – Lori Putnam, Beth Bathe and Kirk McBride will discuss with Q & A their paintings from St Michaels Maritime Museum on the previous day.

– Wednesday, July 17, Paul Bachem, Susan Lynn and Tracey Frugoli will discuss. with Q & A their paintings of Easton proper on the previous day.

– Thursday, July 18, Stephanie Amato, Valerie Craig and Joe Gyurscak will discuss with Q & A their paintings of Easton proper on the previous day.

Saturday 7/13, 1pm, Diane Dubois Mullaly, PAINTING DEMONSTRATION, Green Phoenix Gallery, Harrison Street. A Plein Air Easton Alumni Artist, Diane has been juried into the competition eight times. The public is invited to watch her paint a demo en plein air in front of The Green Phoenix Gallery on Saturday.

Tuesday 7/16, 3pm, Robert Barber, “Plein Air Plus Time”, Avalon Theatre. Robert Barber is a plein air painter who participated in 9 PAE’s. He received the Grand Prize Award, Second Place, Third Place, and other awards during his years of participation. His smaller pieces are completed within a few days. His larger pieces can span across more than one season, and this is the “plus time” element of this presentation. He will share what he loves about this process, how it leads both to the most fun, and the best art possible.

Wednesday 7/17, 1pm, En Train Air, PAE Competition Artists Charlie Hunter and Aimee Erickson discuss a Plein Air TRAIN adventure, Avalon Theatre. This spring six premier plein air painters rode the rails on Amtrak’s Southwest Chief from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Fe, New Mexico. They fell in love with this unhurried mode of transportation; the ever-changing landscapes, the hidden gems of nearly-forgotten towns and the fascinating people along the route. You and your friends want to take a fun and unusual road trip? Come learn how to take a rail trip for one of the best painting experiences of your life!

Wednesday 7/17, 9pm, Kirk McBride, Nocturne Paint Out Demo, Washington Street, Easton. Night time painting presents enjoyable challenges. Many scenes that have little interest during the daylight become magical at night. Kirk uses a condensed palette of colors and relies on a good lighting system for his canvas’ and palette when painting a nocturne. Join Kirk as he showcases his methodology for creating a nocturne painting.

Saturday 7/20, 4pm, David Csont, Trippe Gallery, Watercolor Painting Demonstration, Harrison Street. Join PAE Alumni Artist David Csont for this free watercolor demo followed by a reception at Trippe Gallery.
