Life threatening crash in Elkton, Cecil County Maryland

(Elkton, MD) On Sunday, July 21, 2019 prior to noon, troopers from the North East Barrack responded to the area of Elkton Road (MD 279) and Airport Road in Elkton for a reported two vehicle crash. The initial investigation revealed vehicle #1, a silver Nissan Altima, was traveling traveling northbound on Elkton Road when it collided into the rear of vehicle #2, a silver Chevrolet Malibu, at the intersection of Airport Road.

The front passenger of the Chevrolet sustained a life-threatening injury, and was transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Delaware. All the other occupants involved sustained non-life threatening injuries. The Maryland State Highway Administration responded to assist with the road closure during the investigation, and an MSP crash reconstruction responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. The names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending proper notifications.
