Ryan White Appointed Caroline County Director of Public Works

Denton, MD – The Caroline County Commissioners have announced the appointment of Ryan White as the Director of the Department of Public Works. White will be accepting leadership from previous Director Charles Copper, who retired earlier in June.

White began his career in public works and facilities management at the State Highway Administration as a laborer, quickly progressing to Program Manager. White later became the Assistant District Engineer for all construction and maintenance projects for District 1 operations and worked closely with both State and Federal partners on a wide variety of projects.

White most recently served as the Director of the Dorchester Department of Public Works, where he oversaw a team of over 60 employees in divisions such as Highways, Facility Management, Solid Waste & Recycling, and Administration. His responsibilities included executing emergency infrastructure and road safety response for weather events, traffic incidents, and major events. As a department leader, White also collaborated with council members, boards, and county departments to execute county objectives and goals.
“Ryan brings over 21 years of experience in road construction, fleet management, and facility maintenance, which will be a real asset to the citizens of Caroline County,” Commission President Larry Porter stated.

“As a resident of Caroline County for more than 20 years, I’m familiar with the County’s infrastructure and am invested in our community,” said White. “I’m looking forward to bringing everything I’ve learned over my career back to Caroline County.”

The County Commissioners also expressed their thanks to past director Charles Copper for his incredible legacy of dedicated service to the Public Works Department and Caroline County. “Charles served the people of this community for 43 years, which is an amazing accomplishment,” said Porter. “He has certainly earned a long and happy retirement and the gratitude of all our residents.”

White will be joining the Caroline County Public Works Department on June 12, 2019
