At CBMM, Graham will be working with the Rising Tide Program, which offers free boatbuilding classes, workshops, camps, and events throughout the year for students in grades six to nine. Rising Tide teaches students basic boatbuilding and woodworking skills in a welcoming, relaxed environment. The program works to inspire participants to develop a sense of self-confidence and pride, and facilitate mentorships that provide guidance and support. Students of the program are encouraged to become more academically prepared to achieve long-term success, whether on a college track or vocational emphasis, developing skills in mathematics, engineering, team building, and project management. To learn more about the program, visit cbmm.org/risingtide.

Graham comes to CBMM with an extensive background in museum education through work at the Smithsonian Museums of Natural History and American History, the College Park Aviation Museum, the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., and more. She is a graduate of Virginia State University, with degrees in both criminal justice and sociology, and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in Museum Education from George Washington University.

Graham has done volunteer work with the Iota Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness, among others. She has a family connection to the Chesapeake Bay watershed, with relatives in Virginia with whom she would spend days on the water crabbing and fishing.

“I am so pleased to welcome Nina to our education team,” said CBMM Director of Education Jill Ferris. “The Rising Tide Program is such an important aspect of what we do, and we know it’ll be in good hands with her.”
