Batting Cage to benefit Rock Hall Baseball Teams

Rock Hall, MD – A group of dedicated volunteers gathered on Saturday morning, March 30th, at the Rock Hall ballfields located off of Route 445. The purpose of the gathering was to install a batting cage to help Kent County Youth baseball players practice and warm up before games, as well as provide a recreational opportunity for other Rock Hall children. The batting cage was funded by the Town of Rock Hall’s Parks and Recreation Board, with Coach Paul Stumpf playing an instrumental role in initiating the project.

On hand to dig holes, mix and pour cement, and assemble the frame were Paul Stumpf, Park and Recreation Board Chairman Carolyn Jones, Bo Ford, Jacob Clark, Brian Kimble, Jim Baker, Dan Brewer, Lee and Jonah Vaughan, Fox Ford, Shaun and Nathan Smith, Noah Boyers, Will Bankhead and Danny Usilton.

Installation of a new state-of-the-art playground will soon add to the amenities and recreational opportunities at the lagoon ballfields. The new playground, which will replace a previous playground on-site that deteriorated and was removed, was funded by a $74,500 grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Community Parks and Playgrounds Program.

Installation date for the new equipment will be announced at a later date. “Our parks and playgrounds play an instrumental role in the overall quality of life of our children and families living in Rock Hall, I am happy to see the Parks and Recreation Board working so hard to enhance these areas of our town” says Mayor Brian Jones.
