County Executive McCarthy to hold Press Conference On Proposed FY2020 Budget

ELKTON, MD. — On Friday, March 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM, County Executive Alan J. McCarthy will hold a press conference at the County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elk Room, Elkton, MD 21921. The public is invited to attend.

County Executive McCarthy will present the proposed Fiscal Year 2020 budget message including major initiatives and priorities.

The Cecil County Charter states that “Not later than April 1st of each year, the Executive shall prepare and submit a proposed budget to the Council for the ensuing fiscal year. The proposed budget shall present a complete financial plan for the Government, reflecting anticipated revenues from all sources, expenditures, and any surplus or deficit in the general or special funds of the Government.”

The budget development process began this past October 2018 with discussions between the County Executive and county department leadership, as well as representatives of outside agencies that require a local allocation. County Executive McCarthy hosted a budget input hearing for the public on February 12th during which citizens and representatives of organizations and government-related agencies expressed their views for his consideration. The Fiscal Year 2020 budget will be voted on by the council on June 4th.
