Homicide Investigation Underway In Caroline County
(FEDERALSBURG, MD) — Maryland State Police are searching for the person investigators believe is responsible for the murder of a woman yesterday in Caroline County.
The victim is identified as Tameko L. Barham, 42, of the 400-block of Brown Road, Federalsburg, Md. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect is identified as Stanley E. Ricketts, Jr., 49, whose address is unknown. Based on information developed during the investigation, Maryland State Police homicide investigators have obtained a warrant charging Ricketts with first degree murder.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Federalsburg Police Department responded to the victim’s address after being called by family members of the victim. The initial investigation determined family members went to the victim’s home to check on her when it was learned she had not gone to work yesterday. Family members found the victim’s body in a shed on the property.
Police began an immediate search for suspects with a K-9 team from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and a Natural Resources Police helicopter. Deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office assisted, as did troopers from the Easton Barrack. No suspects were located during that search.
The Federalsburg Police Department requested the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit conduct the investigation. State Police Homicide Unit investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and continue the investigation.
Investigators observed obvious trauma to the victim’s body. Her body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The search for the suspect is continuing. Police throughout the region have been notified and are assisting with the search. Anyone with information about Ricketts’ location is urged to call 911 immediately.
