State Police Investigates 2nd Pedestrian Accident in 10 Day in Cecil County

 

(Elkton, MD)

On October 22, 2018, at approximately 7:45 PM, troopers from the North East Barrack responded to the area of northbound Elkton Road (MD 279) prior to Blue Ball Road for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation revealed a black 2018 Nissan Rogue operated by Dennis Duffy, of Elkton Maryland, was traveling northbound on Elkton Road when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as Kati Casey, 30 yo of Elkton, Maryland. Ms. Casey was crossing the roadway in a non-pedestrian crossing zone in a low light area.

Ms. Casey was transported by Cecil County Emergency Services to Christiana Hospital in Delaware, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after her arrival there.

It is unknown if alcohol is a factor in the incident at this time.

The State Highway Administration assisted with road closures and detouring traffic while a crash reconstructionist investigated the scene. MD 279 was closed for approximately three hours.
